Vietnam complains about contamination of Russian wheat again
MOSCOW, Oct 31 (PRIME) -- The Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Oversight has received new complaints from Vietnam, one of the top importers of Russian wheat, about the presence of creeping thistle in the imports, the service said in a statement late on Tuesday.
The center for grain quality control says that the country bought 1.2 million tonnes of Russian wheat from July 1 through October 23. But in early September Vietnam warned Russia that it would start returning the batches from November 1 if it finds creeping thistle seeds in the batches. The service said in mid-September that it improved control over the quality of grain.
“The service has received new notifications from the plant protection department of the Agriculture and Rural Development Ministry of Vietnam about the discovery of Vietnam’s quarantine object – a creeping thistle – in batches of Russian wheat,” the service said.
It said that Russian exporters should improve control over the quality of production and transportation of wheat.
